"Future stars training with a rising star. Where young athletes on the Upper West Side learn, grow, and thrive under the guidance of a rising teenage talent. Our program blends passion, skill-building, and a love for the game to help every player reach their potential, both on and off the field."
Hello, my name is Jonathan, but everyone calls me JJ.
I am the co-founder/coach at First Touch Soccer Training and I have been playing soccer all my life.
First Touch
At First Touch Soccer Training, focusing on a child's first touch is my mission.
I utilize age-appropriate, foundational training that build children’s passion for the game, by training them to take control of a soccer ball, accept passes, and stop the ball.
What we work on

Each training session last 50 minutes and is limited to just 4 participants, ensuring every child gets individual attention without the pressure of a set pace allowing children to learn, grow, and enjoy the game at their own speed.
To keep the experience safe and supportive, a parent or guardian must be present during all sessions.

Years
First Touch was founded with a simple but powerful mission — to introduce young children to soccer in a way that builds both skills and a lifelong love for the game. Studies show that the earliest years are the most critical for developing core motor skills, coordination, and confidence on the field. Yet, too often, young players are thrown into competitive settings before they’ve had the chance to master the basics in a supportive, age-appropriate environment.
Our program focuses on foundational skills like accurate passing, goal awareness, and confident shooting, while also fostering teamwork, communication, and social development. Every session is designed to be fun, engaging, and filled with encouragement, so children not only improve their soccer abilities but also build friendships and a passion for the sport that will last a lifetime.

I have competedI currently play on MLS NEXT for Blau Weiss Gottschee's U17 academy team. I have been playing football since I was 3 years old and have a strong passion for the beautiful game of soccer. I have competed through the ranks of the youth soccer environment and now I have a motivation to pass down the experience I have gained to a younger generation.
I founded First Touch as a way to share my love for soccer while helping me cover the cost of tuition while attending Bridgeway Homeschool Academy.
I opted for homeschooling because I want more time to focus on my soccer career and building my business. With the upcoming MLS Next season requiring more travel and four practices each week, balancing education and soccer has become even more important. My goal with First Touch is to have the opportunity to train younger kids in the fundamentals of the game, while also supporting my journey both on the field and in the classroom.
Thank you for visiting my website and supporting my goal of becoming a trusted staple on the Upper West Side for children’s developmental soccer
Passing & Shooting
I developed fun drills to help children to pass the ball accurately, aim for the goal, and finish with confidence, all while strengthening core motor skills and improving precision and coordination.
I want to ensure every training session is fun and engaging.
Teamwork
Developing social skills is just as important as building athletic ability.
I encourage ball sharing, teamwork, communication and create a friendly environment to make children of all ages feel comfortable around others teammates.
